Description
Arsenic poisoning via drinking water is incessantly creating a sweltering health condition worldwide. It has now become a comprehensive defy managing the arsenic-induced health hazards. Although chelating agents e.g., BAL and DMSA, are frequently used as therapeutic agents. Moreover, a low therapeutic index has moderate to severe side effects. Therapeutic or bioactive agents, chitosan, curcumin, and extracted pectic polysaccharide (CCPS) of bitter gourd (Momordica charantia) help to mitigate the arsenic-mediated toxicity. Synthesized water soluble encapsulated curcumin chitosan nanoparticles (ECNPs) having a diameter of 8-40 nanometres appeared to relieve arsenic-mediated hazards. Treatment of these biomolecules mitigates reproductive toxicity at protein and gene levels. CCPS and ECNPs also ensure the successful fertility rate with healthy pups in arsenic-fed rats. The outcome of this work can also help humans with the expansion of potent therapeutic agents or nutraceuticals against arsenic-mediated infertility.
