As one of the disaster prone countries, the Philippines, its challenges, and innovative solutions in disaster risk reduction and management serves as the primary focus of this book. Challenges in mobilizing financial resources, conducting capacity building activities, and providing healthcare services during the COVID-19 pandemic was covered using identified frameworks. At the same time, co-production and technological innovations were revisited to ensure continuity of services and address disaster management concerns in the Philippines. Similar cases in the countries of Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam were reviewed in other studies contained in this book to compare the current practices in healthcare systems and disaster simulation exercises. Aside from providing a glimpse of other countries’ challenges and success, it also served as a reference in providing recommendations to further improve the current system in the Philippines, specifically in the field of disaster management and health.
