Andrei Marcelino Sá Pires Silva holds a degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB). Since 2017, he has been a member of the Photonic Materials Group - GMF, based at the Teacher Training Center - CFP at UFRB, which works on the production of DMCLs (molecular light converting devices) based on trivalent lanthanide ions, notably Europium and Terbium. He worked with the synthesis of photoluminescent complexes using the trivalent Lanthanide ions Europium (Eu3+) and Terbium (Tb3+) combined with β-diketones and naphthoquinones, such as Lapachol, his main work, in addition to other projects involving the synthesis of lanthanide complexes for optical application.
