Description
Acute respiratory distress syndrome requiring invasive mechanical ventilation may occur in COVID-19 patients. The objective of the study to diagnosis of Tube thoracostomy during the COVID-19 pandemic to detect and diagnose patients who are positive with the virus. Charts were assessed for demographic data, co-morbidities and patterns of thoracic problems, care and length of stay; intubation and re-intubation; ventilatory settings; intervention; outcome; and recovery. Special precautions to take during the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce staff exposure risk during tube insertion, drainage system maintenance and tube removal are discussed. It is recommended that each institution create a standard algorithm for handling thoracic procedures based on their resources and expertise.
