Description
This book traces the life of Nadi, Lautoka and Fiji soccer champion, Henry Dyer, from his childhood in Simla (with the Indians) and Namoli Village, Lautoka (with the Fijians), through to his senior debut for Airport Soccer Club and Nadi Soccer Association in 1981. It looks at the big games he has played in, such as the 1982 IDC final, the 1983 South Pacific Games final, and the 1985 win over Newcastle United. It includes his assessment of the 1980s district teams. Then, it looks at Henry’s post-career involvement with Sweats Soccer Club and Nadi Legends Club. The book includes comments from Bobby Tikaram, Dr Raymond Fong, Meli Vuilabasa, Inia Bola, Semi Tabaiwalu, Savenaca Waqa and Julie Sami. Bonus chapters include Henry’s memories of Lautoka nightlife in the 1980s and 1990s and the day the Sea God came to Namoli Village.
