Land use/Land cover (LULC) variation is a vital driver of comprehensive change globally and has significant repercussions for policy issues internationally. This study quantitatively assessed and mapped the LULC pattern and its changes over the Karunagappally Municipality were evaluated using optical remote sensing and its spatiotemporal changes. The LULC pattern and its changes over the years, in the Karunagappally area, revealed that there is severe urbanization is occurring in the study area by large-scale conversion of natural habitats specifically mixed crops and barren land.
