In this book, we have compiled the literature regarding Fluoride anion recognition & its mechanism via some novel Diaminomaleonitrile Asymmetric Schiff Bases. Herein we will be restricting ourselves with 2-Amino-((E)-(4-cyanobenzalidine) amino) & Naphthyl based Schiff bases. Such molecular receptor systems possess extensively conjugated framework and belong to a class of organic π-conjugated compounds with electronic donor (D) and acceptor (A) parts connected by single and double bonds. Such D-π-A molecules are push-pull systems and exhibit interesting electronic properties due to intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) processes.
