Dr. Wanan Sheng is a senior research fellow at Lancaster University, UK. His expertise is in hydrodynamic analysis and optimisation for wave energy converters. For over 30 years, Dr. Sheng has worked in theoretical and experimental hydrodynamics for marine structures, and in recent years he is more concentrated in the hydrodynamics and the optimisation of wave energy converter on how to improve wave energy conversions. He developed the hydrodynamics analysis methods for wave energy converters; the optimisation methods for point absorbers, the activated wave energy converters as well as for oscillating water columns; the control method for improving wave energy conversion. He has also proposed the methods for studying and building the wave-wire model for oscillating water column wave energy converters.
